We now know that whatever you vibrate, you create and attract to yourself. So, you work on healing yourself in order to create peace around you. You become peace. If there is conflict living within you, you cannot live in a world of peace. The world mirrors back to you perfectly the condition of your love and of your intent. And if the world you're living in is not a world that is at peace and at joy and at grace, then you have to find peace, joy, and grace within you. I snagged this little gem from The Little Herb Shoppe (Littleton, NH) newsletter. I couldn't help myself. Talk about ringing true. If you are in the area, I highly recommend checking out this shop. It's wonderful and the staff is super helpful. Kim was the one I spoke with at length and she was very knowledgeable. They are offering a liver detox class this month. Health and healing are constant topics in my life. The past week I have been back and forth with a grass-fed meats company in an effort to discover the source of one of their ingredients. The in question ingredient is 'beet powder' and at this point I have not been able to get a definitive answer as to the source. They have to look into it further and have told me that they are unsure if it contains sugar beets or not. So I suppose I will continue to get my son Applegate beef hotdogs which is not my preferred but they don't have any suspicious ingredients. As I get more information, I may choose to divulge the company I am speaking with in an effort to help others make educated decisions and possibly convince them to amend their ways.
For those that may not be aware, sugar beets are a GMO crop. Speaking with my feed company at length regarding this topic (due to the fact that a client uses sugar beets to augment her pigs diet) I learned that after a year of searching for organic sugar beets (which supposedly exist) they were unsuccessful at finding them. The other factor that was mentioned in this lengthy conversation was that conventional sugar beets are almost assuredly GMO. So, I avoid them. I think I will take my chances with cane sugar over a possibly GMO beet sugar (watch your molasses -- even black strap -- as much is derived, at least in part, from sugar beets). I have also been on the hunt for organ meets that are completely grass fed (mostly to guarantee they did not get any GMO corn, soy, cotton seeds, or sugar beets). I have been on the phone nearly every day this last week (it feels like) in an effort to find a clean source. Searching out butchers mostly as I really don't want to have to purchase a meat slicer (I want to make jerky and having it pre-sliced would be so beneficial). No go. For those in my area, I have checked every local butcher I can find as well as the new one on Bridge Street in Waitsfield (incidentally if you eat grains, their sushi is supposed to be amazing). Green Top Market informed me that it's unlikely to find completely grass fed/finished meats in Vermont and they would have to check mid-west sources (to no avail when I spoke with him yesterday, but wow, A+ customer service). Brault's does not sell anything (usually) that is 100% grass-fed/finished and informed me that most of the meats they get receive grains. I have not checked with Healthy Living in Burlington nor have I attended the St. J farmers market that happens the first weekend (Saturday I believe) of every month during the winter. I have also not "Kingdom's Bounty" by Bethany M Dunbar yet (I know I should probably have started there). Another place I would like to touch base with is Flack Family Farm in Enosburg Falls (they are Biodynamic - their sauerkraut and kimchi are amazing). In a moment of epiphany yesterday I decided to check with Coutures' Maple Shop as they raise grass-fed/finished Holstein/Angus cross (I believe it's Angus). Mr. Couture answered the phone and I proceeded to ask him if he carried heart or tongue. Don't knock it until you try it... He did! He also informed me that I was the first person that had ever asked him for either item. Indecently, they are certified organic and have some of the best maple syrup! They also ship. So now I have found a organ source and I can make my organ meat products that I've been itching to try. And what did I learn in the meantime, even companies that toute super healthy products need to be watched closely as there may be just one simple ingredient that could undo the healing or attempts at attaining health we are making. For those who are unaware, organ meats offer many health/healing benefits. They are nutrient dense and provide nutrients that other parts of the animal may not. When you are attempting to heal your body without the use of most supplements (which often have a number of fillers as well as questionable benefits). I hope you are having a wonderful day/evening. Namaste. P.S. I have pictures of our sheep! Now if my internet was not nearly as slow as dial-up you would be looking at these lovely ladies instead of reading this.
