“We are only as healthy as our Mother’s womb” -Chris Kresser Here's my plea, is anyone else out there pregnant, paleo and attempting to be low-FODMAP? I want to talk to you! What do you eat for carbs? I'm also nightshade free and I'm finding myself relying heavily on green plantains when I can find them. That being said, I have NO idea how to prepare them other then fried into chips, which I have to tell you is absolutely amazing for me. Crunchy, salty, carbohydrate hit. Why am I doing this to myself during my late second trimester? Because frankly, I feel better (aside from unsatisfied at times) when I eat a low-FODMAP diet. I have way less pain (zero really, versus the mild pain I have if I eat a 'no-no'). The baby seems more comfortable too. I figured it out probably a little over a month ago. My ribs being messed with was a result of the baby telling me to "cut that out" ... literally. I did have a hot dog with home made mustard for lunch today, it just looked so good and suspect my discomfort is the mild dose of nightshades I got.
I am slowly figuring this FODMAP thing out but also find it very restrictive, specifically in the carbohydrate department. I should probably start snacking more on berries but all I want is raspberries. Oranges are good every now and then but I don't care for banana's at all. Most the other fruit I like is a no-go on the low-FODMAP diet and makes me uncomfortable. I have noticed however that I can consume (and in mass quantities if I so desire) coconut kefir with no problem but coconut milk bugs me. So again, is there anyone out there? I have reached out on several different boards with no luck. Perhaps someone will find me and we can share ideas? I did make a sour kefir coconut cream dip today to go with my fried plantains and it was absolutely divine!
